Pamela Devi Chandran lives in the greater Tacoma area and is a union attorney who represents nurses and other health care professionals. In this position, Ms. Chandran develops and enacts strategic roadmaps that foster union nurses’ ability to advocate for themselves and their patients. Before attending law school, she worked as a union organizer, based on a firm and continuing belief that fair and just workplaces provide opportunities for people to thrive.
For 5 years, Pamela served as the ABA Section of Labor & Employment’s DEI officer for the union/employee-side constituency and continues to be a strong advocate for diversity and equity in employment specifically and in the legal profession generally. She served as the union-side chair of the ABA’s Developing Labor Law committee and as editor for the Developing Labor Law treatise and frequently speaks at labor and employment conferences. Since 2017, she has served on the board of the Wage Justice Center in Los Angeles, an organization that fights for low-wage workers by enforcing judgments for wage-theft against employers.
After growing up in Chicago and the South Suburbs, she earned an AB from Dartmouth College, an MA in critical studies in cinema from the University of Southern California, and a JD from UCLA, the Epstein Program in Public Interest and Policy. She was honored to be a Wasserstein Fellow at Harvard Law School in 2024. Pamela enjoys reading dense fiction, persuading her dog to walk faster, and eating popcorn at the Grand Cinema with her spouse and two teen kids.
